    Hi all,

What I find interesting from my initial read of SMSL report is that the author uses theoretical maximum exposure based on decay of thorium for the concentrate and waste streams eg. (if the person exposed, was living on the concentrate and sleeping on it for a year) to state in his report that the exposure is too high! If any common sense is applied by LYNAS and its employees the probable exposures will be orders of magnitude lower than those in his report.

He also then states that the normal background radiation should not be considered relevant for any evaluations of the relative risk of operation of any plant. So presumably he is saying even if the radiation derived from the co-products was less than the normal background radiation it should still be considered radioactively risky to operate the plant or carry out any activity at all?

If the world subscribed to those views we would not grow any food or build homes or mine anything. We cant even live in houses or weed our gardens anymore because of the increased radiation hazards. Back to swinging through the trees folks.

This report is so ridiculously pro-SMSL and anti-LYNAS even with its interesting calculations and science all it proves to me is that the old sayings are true "put two experts in a room and there will be three opinions" and "if you don't like an opinion shop around!"

I wonder if this guy will front up in court to have his report dissected piece by piece to expose the bias?
