Ben as it stand it is possible that Abbott could lead the LNP to a win at the next election but there is nothing to indicate it would be a landslide. At least not at the moment, 6 months ago that looked like a possabilty but not now.

We still have 6 months before an election so seeing what has happen in the polls over the past 6 months it could go either way.

Certianly Abbott's mini campaign will go a long way to shaping what will happen in the next 6 mths, if it'doesn't have the desired effect there is no way the Lib's will keep him as leader.

I'll point out that over the last few months there has been a number of efforts aimed at lifting Abbott's image and the timing of this won fits in as Abbotts last chance to prove himself and if he doesn't allows the libs enought time to put up a new leader and revise their agenda.

This is going to be a big important week for Abbott, we will see if he handles the scrutiny that this mini election campaign will bring. If he tries to avoid scruniny and interviews it will show that he would not be up to a real election campaign.
