The worst of it for where I am (Alex Hills) was definitely last night and early hours of this morning so I wouldn't say their report was false. Not huge amounts of rain but the wind was wild.
Had 2 large gum trees (12-15m) come down in our yard. Fortunately they both fell parallel to the house so no real damage, apart from a few branches of one taking out part of the fence.
At least 5 decent sized (~7-8m) gum trees that the council planted many years ago on the foot paths that came down across the road. Chainsaw crews came out at 3am to clear road and were cutting for ages, needless to say sleeping was not easy. This was all within 50m of my house so there is no dount plenty more trees down around my suburb. Chainsaws and tree shredders have been non stop all day.
