In 2007 Xtrata bought the Anvil Hill project.

At the time of sale only 150mt were proven and the mine is located adjacent to a township similar to BM.
Xstrata Mangoola is approved to extract and process up to 10.5 million tonnes per annum of coal from an undeveloped coal reserve at Mangoola for a period of 21 years from the granting of the mining lease on 20 November 2008
The mine was completed in April 2011 under budget and three months ahead of schedule.
