Mikeyowie, yes thankyou, I'm quite aware of this. But, even with the 50% discount, I am still liable for a hefty CGT amount. That alone will put my taxable income in the high tax bracket (what ever that may be at the moment).
I could sell only a portion; but, I have other investments that I have held for well over 10 years that will also incur a hefty CGT amount when realised.

I'm caught between a rock and a hard place, so to speak. ;-)
I had a strategy of doing this over a 6 year period, but as I said before, TLS have appreciated far more than I, and everyone else for that matter, had anticipated which has put a spanner in the works.

Kind of ironic,though. Here on Hot Copper nearly everyone is whinging of how their shares have decreased; I am whinging because my shares have increased, to the benefit of the government.
