It is reasonable not to have an election on Christmas Day or AFL final day, but where do you draw the line? If you rule out Yom Kippur, Ramadan, Diwali etc etc, then it will be hard to find any day on which to hold an election. And Turnbull complaining is not unexpected - his electorate has a very large jewish community. And a very large gay community as well - Turnbull would probably complain if the election was held on Mardi Gras day as well!!!
