Tony Abbott's announcement today to cut $1.25b from education for 1.3 million families
He's not cutting it from education. The method of payment means there are no guarantees that this money goes towards children's education anyway. It would be much better to allocate the money directly to schools and the schools use it to discount the fees that are paid for everything from uniforms to excursions. Only then do we know that the money is being spent for what it is purported.
Changing this method might affect Harvey Norman TV sales but so be it.
