This short article has an explanation why copper is rising - just another view, I suppose, and its to do with the US housing improving (a function of low interest rates and a reduction in the housing "stockpile".)

The POG rose in advance of the FOMC meeting minutes being released and then spiked $20 on the back of the quarterly GDP number being negative, which is a positive for the continuation of QE, I believe.

Many of our goldies improved at the end of the day, but if the market tanks badly perhaps they will fall back a fair bit like they have done in the past.
