In 2004 Bennelong was already a marginal seat at4.3%. The 2006 redistribution pushed this margin further into Labor territory, due to the inclusion of the predominantly working class and public housing suburb of Ermington.
When "the swing is in" the marginals fall. Thus at the 2010 election the swing put it back in the Libs hands.
Howard didn't run away. He ran the country while Labor ran a full on campaign in Bennelong. Nothing to be ashamed of by Howard and the Left seem to think it was amazing.
