Yes it's a common occurrence Justis. Accountants vs winemakers, it occurs at every level whether it be the owners vs the winemaker or the board vs winemaker.
I'm lucky in that I have the trust of the owner and he lets me get on with it. Yes decisions are queried but the wines win awards and sell so I'm in a good place in that regard.
I've worked at an accounting based winery and it was soulless. As the assistant winemaker (read baby winemaker) I felt like I cared more about the outcome than my superiors it was frustrating.
