the disagrement over the russian oak vs french oak was basicaly over the cost diffrence. The owner told me how he wanted to prove the russian oak would be just as good so snuck some in. He walked in to one of the work areas to find the wine maker with a fire going that turned out to be the russia oak casks. I think this is a comman debate point, french and american oak seems the most common but is one better than the other? I belive french oak is more expensive but that may just be supply vs demand
Situation with the grapes was the wine maker wanted to only use the very best grapes, to what extent the owner wanted to use lower quality grapes but got the impression the wine maker was not will ing to compromise
