Justis, in terms of energy I was thinking of pumping requirements. A lot of water will need to be moved. But, if you use sewage for the water supply, how will you get rid of the sulphur?

Ben, hydrogen is not explosive. The Hindenburg didn't explode, it burnt as the hydrogen came into contact with oxygen. A container of hydrogen is perfectly safe, just as an LPG, NG or petrol tank is. (Or, alternatively, just as dangerous). I'm not sure which would be safer in a smash - an electric vehicle with the risk of electrocution, or a high pressure hydrogen tank. What you definitely DON'T want is a crash between an electric and hydrogen cars!
