Sorry I am unable to agree with a lot of the other posts
Be very worried. He is pickling his insides and will suffer later.
Has he had FULL blood tests/ go with him to the doctor and explain your concerns.
My only experiences are with friends and I had a guy who worked for me at one stage who was like your man and he was a wonderful worker and a wonderful father and husband, but did not live as long as he should have.
Anything in excess is bad for you and agreed some people can cope better than others but it is still bad.
