Thanks for all your replies.I have just spoken to the coppers and they confirmed that the driver is responsible but could not advise me on any outcome of the driver being unable (through no money and no assets)of paying the $2000+ damage to the insurers of the car he hit.
Can the debt collector come after me as the owner of the van, as last resort. ..............
