Towie, unfortunately for the "victim" of a black credit mark, THEY don't necessarily go anywhere near a court, and nor do they have any rights if processes are not followed (ignorance is no defence). Twice as a young, more trusting adult I have experienced fraudulent use of my name on utilities bills of which I'd been unaware until I needed a loan or a new lease many years later. Massively bloody time and labour intensive to fix! There was no summons and no court. Just a very nasty surprise when I needed it least. Whether a debt collector has their story right or not, they have the power to cause a whole lotta pain. And unfortunately the don't just go away if ignored.
