Jessie1, its pretty clear that Israel is THE aggressor in the Mid East. Is one of the world's most militarily powerful nations really at risk? No, I don't think so. In fact, as a rogue nuclear state we should be demanding inspections of Israeli nuclear facilities.
Israel in its current form has no desire for peace because peace will be an impediment to the acquisition of new territory and resources. Why must we pretend otherwise?
But, you are right, other nations have used similar strategies at different points in history.
