Late last year coal and iron ore prices were collapsing with many crying doom and gloom, and at that time you can bet the chinese government was feeding money to its conglomerates abroad to pick up all these cheap ozzy coal/iron shares ,knowing that after the leadership handover they would then ramp purchases for their infrastructure projects. This is just one example of how the heavyweights of the world manipulate markets, now gold is being manipulated down through short selling of gold shares or through attacking the price on the comex (metals futures trading)here note the comex doesn't have the physical gold/siver to back it's future contracts! In this case it's American heavyweights (eg J P morgan)who will vacuum up very cheap gold stocks from many who will have given in to their fears and jumped ship, at which point they will simple reverse course and drive up the gold prices making a killing. The small investor can win if he holds his nerve (which is damn differcult),my average is 1.17 after yesterday buying soom at 1.01 and I still have some funds to chase it lover.
