I generally turn my desktop over every 3 years, have never bought a commercial model always have one built by a local guy to my specs. I do not like the idea of buying a commercial unit with all software preloaded and no discs and operating system backup sitting in a partition on the hard drive. I always run 2 internal hard drives currently 500gb each with the abilitiy to switch from one to the other should a problem arise. This current unit cost me $550 built, plus software. My first computer was a commodore 64 with a dot matrix printer, still got the old girl somewhere in the shed.
