I found this on a different forum
    Worth a read

    a good 1984 vintage report http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... 8644,d.d2k

& a more snappy 2012 reserve report indicating the Peten Basin having undiscovered reserves potential of just shy of 1Bbbl. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j& ... 8644,d.d2k

I haven't related to the CTR data as it references the C13 to C18 carbonate formations & that C17 to C18 are the primary formations. The 1984 report refers to secondary porosity (micro fracturing) of Cretaceous dolomites/breccias being a key function from salt dome intrusuion. Additionally karst or solution features are also present, this may widen such fracture appertures leading to large permeability as opposed to porosity (noteable at Rubelsanto). That said primary porosity in grained (pelloidal/ooidal) limestones can also be a significant reservoir for hydrocarbons and these too are present regionally though not necessarily persistant. The report indicates a number of trap seal possibilities and feeding from a deeper Jurassic source. The summary to me is really interesting if relating to the Rubelsanto field and then also to Atzam or Tortugas fields.

Secondary porosity from micro fracturing to me appears key and previous pressures at Tortugas/rubelsanto infers positive pressure and good yield prospects from the micro-fractured zones in the formation(s). Would be good to see logs/data/geophys, but I've not researched that.
