money doesn't make you happy ... a myth, page-12

    pintohoo,

That's great, if what one is good at brings home the bacon. Not so good if you are great at what you do, it requires much expertise and training and you end up with very little financial reward for your efforts... OR not so good if your second and third choices don't bring you much money either, you don't really like them AND/OR you are stuck in a rut.... possibly left behind as IT technology and knowledge explodes exponentially.... you may be able to do really complex calculations in your head ( I know of a succesful CEO and a banker who could do these)... but someone who does not know how to sell themselves may not get a look in...

It's not always that simplistic.... Amadeus may have lost the right to fortune due to alcoholism.... he may have also been so caught up with tunes in his head that he couldn't get basic things organized.... many succesful and unsucessful artists would know what I mean...

If evil men prosper and good men (and women) get used up, chewed up and spat out it is not always because they haven't really found out what they are good at. There will be many as time goes on and population increases.... many will fall through cracks not of their own making.

Some have to keep their noses to the grindstone to feed families, sticking at lowly paid, horrible jobs for many reasons..... crikey, probably half a chance too, that some mega-rich a$$oul has gotten wealthy taking this person's assets in the GF"C", has their super in their ruthless sights..... would be doubly pathetic if the ruthless taker was not happy as well....

Yes, I've met a few ex-bankers who are enormously wealthy, but they remain quite secretive on how they accumulated their wealth, one is quite miserly and not really happy, one has gone on from international finance to local money making... apparently, does not have many friends.... another almost never sees his old friends and has fallen out with most of his family.

Ask many on the land if they are happy, when many things have left them feeling abandoned, ask the many retailers who have been shafted by the Retail duopoly and now the internet..... when you are stuck in a lease, the rents are going up, you have to pay building insurance, contents insurance, land tax for a landlord who doesn't care about you, when he can increase the rent so unmercifully, extra for your utilities..... many retailers would like to get out, but they can't.....

With globalization, many manufacturers have gone to the wall.... do you reckon they are happy laying off people, losing their homes to the banks?

Greed leaves many unhappy with little choices and seems to leave some who have got wealthy that way, unhappy as well.
