As you mentioned PAN needs to do his own research and due diligence on the company and then make an informed decision about whether he wishes to invest or not.
No investment is without risk and me personally, I research and gather as much information as possible before and after putting down my hard earned.
Its about doing the hard yards and due diligence and then balancing the risk vs reward and it doesn't stop once you have bought the stock, you need to continually keep on top of things to maximise the reward or cut your loses.
