groundzero, Well, I imagine that there will be enough checks and balances, and that the inevitable problems will be sorted out as we move forward.
All laws and procedures need to evolve with changing circumstances and threats rather than be frozen in some time warp only capable of handling and reacting to threats of some bygone era.
As has often been stated, our constitution is not a suicide pact but many of the terrorists, their supporters, enablers and sympathizers would like our constituion and freedom of our societies to be our greatest weakness and one that they can most easily exploit to destroy us.
The challenge is to succesfully confront and defeat the terrorists and be able to detect and stop them during the early stages of their planning while ensuring that the normal freedoms and pleasure of lifetyle of other citizens are compromised as little as possible.
