For those in the know (RAAF pilots) the F-35 is the plane for Aust. There is a concerted effort by ill informed journo's/internet fanboys to discredit the F-35 purchase. They don't have a clue about the classified skill set it will bring to the table, including the solid rumour of ramjet missiles capable of mach 5. Try dodging those in a russian fighter. The F-35 is due to be operationally ready by 2018. That gives it another 5 years to sort out all the problems which are inherent in developing any new aircraft. The price has increased but luckily the $A/$US exchange rate has offset this issue. Boeing (the maker of the Super Hornet), China and Indo would love us to not buy the F-35. Our pilots (who put their lives on the line) desperately want the F-35....so who do you believe?
