I do not think the problem is the quality or otherwise of the F35 but the method of ordering, the cost and the feeling that it may never be finished.
I think that I can speak for most people and say that we want our pilots to have the best for ours, and their safety.
We are not at the pointy end of the effectiveness of the F35 but even though you state that they say it is the best there is, and we have to be better than any likely opposition, the fact is "in theory" it is better.
But there have been numerous delays and cost overruns and from the public's point of view we have to wonder if something else with a more tried and trusted pedigree may have been a better choice.
The heading was from a Norwegian report of their expected cost, ours will be similar.
