"The chief economist of B-I-S Shrapnel has warned the glory days of the mining boom are over.
Speaking at a B-I-S forecasting conference in Perth, Frank Gelber said the mining investment boom is in 'orderly decline' which will continue throughout the decade.
Mr Gelber says commodity prices will fall as new supply comes online, and to a level which he predicts will be too low to underwrite new projects.
He says W-A needs to start investing in non-mining businesses to fill the gap created by a fall in mining investment over the next decade."
