197,000,000 shares have been borrowed over the years and sold on the market... sold at prices that could well range from a low of 10 cents all the way up to the $2.60 peak.
One day, and not likely to occur all at once, these guys who sold will want to buy them back but, as you can see, some may have shorted the stock at well over a dollar or even $2.00 and will make heaps in any case, even if the share price shoots up to a dollar. However, those that shorted at 55c etc. are not likely to be so well off when they want to, or need to buy back.
Hope this makes some sense.
There are some people/organisations out there sitting on $2.00 a share profit, if they sold initially at $2.60.
