Labor hate the thought of "the fabulously rich" (who presumably are just a little better off than Joe Fitzgibbon's coal miners) getting a "concession".
Emerson makes no mention of the amount of income tax that those who are getting "the concession" are paying in income tax to receive a super concession.
What about the same taxation advantage the top marginal rate payer gets from negative gearing? Can't touch negative gearing because too many "ordinary Australians" like to own an investment property.
No doubt the "rich" are paying full whack for their private health; paying for their own kids education; paying for their own disability cover and income protection; getting neither family tax A or B and generally getting nothing from a government that is engendering a society that either expects handouts or resents those that get them.
And what is the goal of all this? Essentially to pay for gold plated wheel chairs and make the rich pay even more to educate other peoples kids! And in the process pick a fight with nearly every state in the country.
