Who is Monash??
Monash is Neil Youren and his group which has access to wholesale funds across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Neil not only has networks with major financiers but is also a member of various government bodies in Victoria and therefore has influence in political circles.
We know the wholesale funding consortia which Monash has been dealing with have “cleared funding arrangements and back in November 2012 these were proceeding unconditionally.
The $6M placement and the project financing are not mutually exclusively. The placement monies are at 2cents to Monash Capital but it will be interesting to see what financial instrument will be used for the broader CDP and CSP project financing – will it be secured debt funding, unsecured debt funding or equity ownership. These are the terms and conditions which are being worked through and they are tied to the ALDP.
More certainty was required by Monash Capital group and it’s wholesale funding package financiers and this was achieved through:
(a) Established legal patents
(b) Shortlisting to Govt-funded ALDP
(c) Completion of Phase 1 DFT and substantial progression of Stages 2 and 3
(d) Recent RFP successful submission
All the above are the collateral required to mitigate risk. Be patient as we are dealing with a company making events which are all lining up with the ALPD timelines.


Neil Youren profile:
Neil is a financier with over 20 years experience and has held senior management roles with Lend Lease and Macquarie Bank and the National Australia Bank.
Neil was the NAB's Global Head of Property Risk Management and responsible for tits $28B commercial property lending portfolio.
At the NAB Neil provided debt finance to registered housing associations in the UK. He used this experience to develop sensible debt funding models for the Australian social housing sector.
Neil recently established the Monash Capital Group to provide new forms of finance for social housing as well as specialist housing loan products for first homebuyers.
Neil has been a member of the Victorian Government's Ministerial Housing Council since 2004.
Neil is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and has Masters Degrees in Business Administration and Applied Finance.
