Quackie- it is my understanding that Denmark still has control of Greenland's foreign policy and national security which might explain why there was a Danish official present and not a Greenlandic one.
Danish politicians are on record as saying that they wouldn't stand in the way of Greenland ending the zero tolerance policy. But as we all know with politics things can change. Nonetheless if Denmark stood in their way the Greenlandic parliment could gain control of their own foreign affairs by going for full independence from Denmark. Financially at least it is in Denmarks interest to see Greenland's economy stand on its own two feet so as to end the Danish subsidies.
