    NO, unfortunately it is not that simple. It depends on parameters like horizontal, vertical permeabilities that means k(h)/k(v) , fluids production etc
    It is an old rule of thumb that a horizontal well needs a three time higer production to be economically attractive.

    My personal wish list would be to see 10 MMscft/d from the vertical Halifax well. The reduced rate after shut in is a bitter setback. Made 50% of the way up already and crushed down and need a 5fold now.

    Another very important point of shale gas wells is the production decline. The fear is that this rate is the seen decline, the hope is that it is a solveable probleme and we will see higher rates again.

    If you got money you can bet on higher or lower gas rates. Depends on you. Ofcourse you can bet on other influencing possibilities too like the next moves from elefants from the left field ...
