The American Association for Cancer Research annual meeting/conference is taking place in Washington this week. It has been listed in the company calendar on PRR's website for some time, although I am unsure of the nature of PRR's involvement. It appears to be a large conference covering the full range of cancer treatments, including immunotherapy.

At the AACR conference, a potential ovarian cancer rival treatment to Cvac has announced very well publicised and imo promising early stage results for its dendritic cell immunotherapy.

In part it reads: "This study, funded in part by the U.S. National Institutes of Health, found signs of improvement in 19 out of 31 patients. All 19 developed an anti-tumor immune response. Of those, eight had no measurable disease and are on maintenance vaccine therapy. And one of the eight, whose cancer recurred several times, has been in remission for 45 months …."

As I said, ‘promising’!

This new study has been of sufficient impact, that overnight PRR has published a Nomura ‘quick note’ which includes a brief analysis of the significance of this new trial data.

It is just speculation on my part, but imo the wide publicity this new treatment has been getting may have excited greater interest in immunotherapy treatments in general, focused some attention on Cvac, (because it is much further along the regulatory pathway), and as a result, akin to 'nearology' in mining stocks, been at least in part responsible for the increased activity on the Nasdaq overnight.
