I have been reading up a lot of late on Arckaringa.
South Australian govt hold some of the detailed well reports online, one of the very interesting ones was the well report for Maglia-1. In various SA Govt presentations and scientific geology reports Maglia-1 gets mentioned re oil shows. Also mentioned is the Arck-1 well but i have seen no detailed well reports for Arck-1 - I think its drill report is confidential till later this year. In Maglia-1 the drillers were drilling to determine coal suitability for UCG properties but at a certain depth reported strong petroleum odour and liquids near the depth for transition layer from one shale body to another. The liquids were sampled and sent for analyis and the rest as they say is history. Maglia-1 took much longer in elapsed time compared to other wells in the drill program - maybe because interesting things were found. I would love to know what was found at Arck-1. There are a few other well reports which are not published on SA govt site and will be confidential till dates later in 2013.
Today I read an article from back in January on Rigzone with PB in an interview about Arckaringa and it clearly mentions in that that the basin is prospective for conventional oil. The other thing is that he is talking about a combination of "production wells" and exploration wells as the next phase. I did not realise till today that we might have production wells.
QUOTE "We are keen to work with both international and local partners, especially Asian partners," Bond said.
After selecting a partner, Bond intends to develop the company's assets in the Arckaringa Basin through the drilling of both exploration and production wells. The company is also exploring the possibility of doing horizontal drilling in its permits. ENDQUOTE
Is it possible that Arck-1 and perhaps a few other wells will become production wells while other exploration is done? Very interesting.
It is hard to contain my excitement about the future for Arckaringa, lets see what partner Linc gets to take it to the next level.
