Kids are coached to use normal length putters because coaches know they'll eventually be banned.
The only players that change are those who develop putting problems, or those intending to gain an advantage by using an 'anchored' putter.
Most players have no need to change, or no desire.
"Anchored" putters such as the broomstick putter were designed specifically for the purpose of giving those who develop putting problems, a way out.
Like you, I can't understand why more players don't use them, because they ARE AN ADVANTAGE, because they're ANCHORED. However, most players know it takes time to get accustomed to them, and that they'll eventually be banned, and then their time spent learning to use them, will have been wasted time.
Meaningless attempts at analogies such as the 'winged keel' mean nothing, except a desperate attempt to justify a bad decision to allow them in the first instance.
They will eventually be banned. Just watch and see.
Having said that, I was really pleased to see Scott win, as it was an enormous achievement regardless of the putter, but would have preferred to see him win without an anchored putter.
