Spindletop was a shooting star. A single oil-filled cavity in the caprock part of the dome, ie, big flows but soon exhausted. That's not typical of reservoirs on the flanks like R#S2 (this well) which tend to be slow but steady producers. The can also often be re-completed in other zones vertically when each zone is depleted.
