For those who want a referendum- some of whom may never come back to this thread- I'd love to have such a vote. 2/3 of Aussies want gays to be allowed to marry. Look it up.
exfiles, a lot of people have lost respect for the institution of marriage. Too many divorces, too much unhappiness within homes. A lot of young people have said no to marriage. At least gays want a renaissance. Maybe marriage will come back in style- we all know how gays lead fashion trends. ;)

Another irony in this whole discussion- people says gays are promiscuous, and yet this topic is about gay *marriage*- where people commit to each other for life (or, if it becomes like heterosexuals, commit for as long as they can stand each other). What does marriage have to do with promiscuity?
