Getting back to the theme that Itabirite is good.....I was thinking about this the other day and how a lot of the focus was put in marketing the 10 year DSO part of the project. I think looking at the project overall now in a 50 year plus concept we should be looking at the DSO as a 436 million tonne pre strip running at 62.6% Fe. How many other companies have a pre strip that actually makes money as they do it??
Reading from the SDL website they are hoping to achieve a Direct Reduction (DR) product grading around 68 % Fe, im not sure what the recovery is but would image its around 45% so that would give you roughly 1,800 billion tonnes of 68% product , so if my maths is right at $140 a tonnes that's $250 billion dollars minus costs...I still cant see how any of the majors don't think that's worth a little bit of risk
