    grafton48, I don't believe any of the things you've listed required a POA, as Blewitt was quite able to sign all the relevant documentation himself after the auction, even if Wilson flew to WA with the paperwork.

    I believe the reason for the POA was to do with costs related to the settlement.

    This has not been picked up by anyone else as yet, but this has far greater legal implications for Gillard than what is currently being looked at.

    When purchasing a property using "and or nominee" to purchase on behalf of someone else, there use to be some traps for those not fully aware of what property transfer costs were paid.

    I'm guessing that this was not discovered until after the auction, thus requiring a POA dated prior to the auction to avoid paying extra for the property transfer.

    If the above is the case, then it is a more serious crime than what is currently being pursued by the media.
