I can't believe the opening thread gets 150+ TU when of course if you knew Russia, it has such a vast multitude of unique cultural identities that such a speech would be suicide to Putin's popularity. If you TUd the opening post I suggest you need another look at the world.
But obviously Russians are not in the least bit politically correct, and I'll leave you non-white haters with an anecdote that will probably please you. I was in Vladivostok in '99 when the first US warship came into town. It was July, sunny and the beachfront boulevard was packed with Ruskies getting pissed, fighting, and drowning themselves. But the US sailors had to be on best behaviour, wear uniform, couldn't drink, had to sleep on board, but were allowed to stroll around the ocean front. There was one universal word that all the Ruskies knew - and that is Nigger. As most had never seen a person with black skin before all you could hear from the crowd as the sailors walked past was chants of Nigger, and there was nothing these sailors could do or say, as the port was newly opened to them, and they had to behave. I must admit the situation was somewhat amusing at the time when taken in that unique context.
Racism is alive and well, as evident here, and everywhere around the world. But why would you want to be proud of it if you are part of a civilised society, or even worse run dumb arse racist propaganda campaigns?
