TU Ben. I'm always shocked at how people talk about national defence while they know bugger-all about it. Truth is, invading us would be no simple task, even for China. They would only contemplate it if they knew absolutely that the US would accede to them. Then you must ask WHY would they do so? Hard to come up with a sound reason. They are doing very well as capitalists.
Equally, it is hard to imagine what the Indos would do with a bloody big desert when they are a nation of fishermen.
We don't need overwhelming numbers, just enough to make the cost, materially and politically, too high.
I know the F35 is over-priced and under-performing but if we have the air to air refuelling tankers needed they will be able to extract a cost that may be unacceptably high. Our Army boys are pretty good too so all we need is to get the Navy seaworthy.
The drones we are buying should ensure that we are never surprised like Pearl Harbour. They are tiny radar targets and would get close enough before being detected and shot down.
