Sounds like you and Mr Rabbit need to get a room. I am not questioning Mr Rabbits right to say anything. But lets just look at what he said.

"Its become australias biggest import" Do you really think so?
Lets put aside TV's, cars and just abount any consumer good. Even if we are just talking about people and immigration it is so factually incorrect its a nonsense. Australia grows approx by 300k people a year of which about approx half from immigration and half from births less deaths. How many boat people have arrived in the last 6 years (I am sure someone will have the number) 30k maybe 40k. Clearly "leagal" immigration dwarfs that number (150k * 6 = 900k). Mr Rabbits comment then is just designed to inflame and pander to peoples prejudices.

The next comment 'illegal immigrants". This has been done to death but it has clearly been established it is not illegal to seek asylum. Again this is designed to inflame and unfortunately our politicians are very good at it.

The final comment "my grandkids country culture and heritage being handed over.." Raises the question what is our culture? I would have thought our culture is based around a fair go, a secular society & mateship. Do you think the boat loads of people from Sri lanka, Afghanistan, Iraq etc are really coming here to change that. They are coming here to be a part of it. They risk drowning and being locked up for a couple of years but they still come. They are doing the hard yards. Instead of changing the culture they will be reinforcing it - because they know its good, decent, fair and honest.

Nothing stays the same NickeyJames. Don’t be fearful of change and "foreign" people, embrace it, enjoy it. Life is too short to be jumping at shadows.
