The ALP has run the defence budget down to levels not seen for 75 yrs, now they are talking it up just before the election, is anyone fooled ?

Would we really want to get into another phil collins class submarine debacle ? For the last 5 years on average 2 or LESS of the phil collins class submarines have been fully operational at any one time.

Now we have this fantasy ALP proposal to build 12 new submarines in Australia, it's never going to happen, under either government.

Far better to try to buy 4-6 Astute class submarines from the UK and be done with it. Their nuclear reactors don't need to be refuelled during the boat's 25 year service. Can purify water and air directly from seawater, able to circumnavigate the planet without resurfacing. That's a submarine ....
