    Thanks for the confirmation. Glad to see we guesed right about the drill string. Cutting is always last resort. I now don't believe they don't know what influx caused the kick if it was gas they would know and if it was oil they should know but if it was water it may be harder to tell. That is a serious deep plug they have proceeded with and we'll see on Tue if they case the sidetrack expecting lots of pressure or unstable ground. 900m might give them enough angle to miss the pocket or instability they encountered as well targeting a different contact point.

    Hope they are using the right terminology in the announcements as this "kick" could just be a collapsed shaft, human error with mud / mud pump pressures topsides or faulty BOP equipment. Sometimes the earliest tip off in Australia is the required EPA reporting of a failure and subsequent spill. Not sure which domocile the ST reports to in regards to environmental damage when drilling for WPL.
