Hi Daffy, I agree there needs to be a due process when granting refugee status. Que jumpers, people coming here for financial reasons, criminals should not gain status until proven otherwise... trouble is how can you prove anything about people who have little information to provide when in many cases they have lost everything they left behind?

If you are a refugee in Malaysia or Indonesia you are virtually treated like a dog. It's not the safe passage you make it out to be... the suicide rate is high and conditions are unlivable. Aussies may holiday in these places and assume all would be ok, but imagine being broke, not being local and trying to survive in Indonesia or Malaysia?

Asylum seekers who arrive in Australia have been through alot already, but again you are detained and locked up in a prison like environment upon arrival with no idea about your future. The suicide rate is high once again.

The sad part is, many of these people have been through serious trauma and stress, then they are locked up in detention. This then creates serious mental illnesses, and when or if they are ever granted status their lives have been ruined by our process, they fail to mix into society.

Anyways, the corruption stems from our government. AusAid sends countless amounts of money to corrupt countries just to maintain trade relations, the money doesn't assist with refugees like it should, the paper trail sucks it all up along the way it's just another failed policy from our government.

Locking people up for years is not the solution... it's inhumane no different to Guantanamo Bay.
