Just joining the discussion - regardless of any vaccine developement etc, the dye has been cast: Antivirals have been thrust in the spotlight & stockpiling will STILL take place as a backstop. Relenza is now in the subconsience of people, travelers, etc as a must in their medicine cabinet along with aspro & panadol etc. Every traveller going abroad wants it in his first aid kit.
AND
Once (if) this begger (avian flu) mutates - Hell, it'll just do it again!!! Rendering the current crop of vaccines useless!! Guess what? Back to good ol' Relenza!
Sales may level off, but never back to the trickle it was before. The market & developement partners will now jump at anything Biota has to to offer. They will be climbing over each other to get to their next generation flu anti virals.
Folks, hype aside, the landscape has changed for Biota FOREVER.
Cheers
