Computershare and Tree Canada Host Award Ceremony Tonight to Mark Successful eTree Program

More Than One Million Trees Planted Worldwide on Behalf of Shareholders
CP Ships and TELUS to Be Recognized


TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 2005--Computershare (ASX: CPU - News), a global leader in transfer agency, employee investment plans, proxy solicitation and other specialized financial and communication services, and Tree Canada are holding an awards ceremony tonight, October 13, 2005, to mark a major milestone in the eTree program. Since eTree's launch one year ago, more than one million trees have been planted worldwide on behalf of shareholders.

eTree Canada (www.eTree.ca) is an initiative between Computershare and Tree Canada, a national conservation organization, which assists companies in increasing stakeholder acceptance of electronic communications. Each time a shareholder registers for electronic report or statement delivery through a sponsored eTree program, a tree is planted on his/her behalf in various regions throughout Canada.

Tonight's event is being held at the Sandra Ainsley Gallery in Toronto from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with several dignitaries on hand to mark the success of the environmentally-friendly initiative. Those in attendance include: Joe Pantalone, the Deputy Mayor of Toronto; Jeffrey L. Monty, President Tree Canada; Andy Kenny, Director of the Graduate Program of Urban Forestry, Faculty of Forestry at the University of Toronto; Glenn Keeling, CEO of Georgeson Shareholder Canada; and Wayne Newling, President of Computershare Canada.

In addition, representatives from CP Ships and TELUS will receive awards of recognition for their companies' outstanding participation in the eTree program. Overall, more than 5,000 trees have been planted in the name of CP Ships' shareholders and nearly 10,000 trees have been planted in the name of TELUS' shareholders.

Just this past year, the eTree project received a significant accolade when the United Nations Association of Australia awarded Computershare the "Best Specific Environmental Initiative" at the United Nations' World Environment Day Awards for their work in environmental protection. In the UK, Computershare has signed up more than 30,000 shareholders through their electronic communications initiatives, and support the Woodland Trust's Tree for All campaign, which aims to plant 12 million trees - one for every child in the UK.
