    DaveR, that's where you're wrong!

I have posted previously that I am concerned about it.

    I'll post it again.

All the states are racking up debt at the moment. It's not sustainable and must stop.

The WA LNP coalition has overall been a reasonable but not perfect government, but the rising debt is a concern especially if the state's economy doesn't continue to grow quickly.

But up to now WA has been going gang busters and there is a reason that debt has been rising - the WA government has had to contend with approx. 1000 people a week arriving here to live, and it's a vast state to deliver services to.

At least there are a few things to show for the money that is being spent. But it has to stop growing. I have no problem with government debt being raised to pay for long term assets ie hospitals and schools etc. that are used by more than 1 taxpayer generation, in some cases several.

The federal government on the other hand is a complete shambles. Most of the debt increases under the ALP have been for short term funding of day to day government, which is why we have seen so many huge budget deficits.

Completely different to the current situation in WA, but very similar to what ALP did in QLD.
