"By any fair comparison internationally, the economic management has been very, very strong indeed," he told Radio National.

"We've got a very strongly performing economy with economic growth at 3 per cent, unemployment is relatively low at 5.5 per cent.

"Inflation's well and truly in hand, interest rates have come off, there's strong levels of private sector investment.

"We've just got to keep things in perspective."

Yeah good luck on the perspective -in some corners anyway.

Look, Abbott (lol) Joe & Co. should be nominated for the Academy's Best Actor Award for the way that they have put over little piss ant sized things as being more important than the important economic figures - unemployment, growth etc. if this would be their approach to governing we would be going nowhere but backward fast.

Obviously when you have your head in the sand, when you fail to realise the reality of the current global financial difficulties, you have to come up with something to try to make yourself look attractive. Pee poor performance in my book.
