Many years ago in the early 70's I was fortunate to be an expeditioner to Antarctica .The beer and ciggies on the ice breaker were duty free....a pkt smokes was 11 cents ( $1.80 on shore ) and a can of VB was 9 cents ( 45 cents )...
So you can calculate how much excise we were paying in OZ..
