Pity SC decided not to communicate with the HC community, I would like to remind him that it has been over thirteen months since the top twenty list was published.
One would imagine there have been some substantial changes in this list, and I for one think it insightful to know.
I agree with Kfann's take on single user licenses and that these should add icing to the cake at only the cost of setting up logins and downloads. No doubt some will exploit this option, but existing license holders are less likely to do so.
Like others on this thread the real rocket will be when they launch their product in another country. Australia is vast in area and low in population, asian or european cities, ignoring the visibility issues, cloud/smog and perhaps flight restrictions should be far more lucrative.
Incorporating a business model that embraces both corporate clients and casual users will make it more saleable internationally. This has been their goal for sometime but as yet remains unrealised.
From 2009 Annual Report...
"Nearmap's goal is to cover over 20% of the world's population in 700 cities with photomaps updated on at least a monthly basis."
Sounded good back in 2009, too good to be true in fact.
