    "Hi FB,

I'm sure you get this all the time but why the constant shorting?

If you think about it the only sure thing is over the long term markets will head up. Surely that means there is more easy money in finding the winners not the losers?"

AKE I'm not shorting the market but individual stocks.

I go long quality and short where I see a duds or a bubble.

Duds and bubbles are quite often easy to spot.

TGA had a nice plunga a while ago from well over $2 down to @$1.40 so why not get in on the action.

I will quite often ride a stock up and rather than just sell when even blind freddy could see it was overvalued I sell then go short to multiply my profits.

There are always plenty of ASX companies in downtrends, going bust etc you only have to look.

Anyone who has the skill to find undervalued companies should equally be able to spot overvalued companies.

Why limit yourself to half of the game only?

The crash following the 2007 peak was just free money for any shorter who wanted it and there was far less competition for the free money than there is trying to profit from an uptrend.
